Oscar Romero – El Salvador’s first saint

Oscar Romero spoke out against poverty, social injustice and torture, whilst serving as Archbishop of San Salvador. In 1980 he was assassinated whilst offering mass.

To mark the canonisation of Oscar Romero by Pope Francis, on Sunday October 14^th an Ecumenical Service of Thanksgiving was held at Sacred Heart & St William Church, Uppermill, led by Father Bernard Bickers.
